Replace when the slab is severely cracked throughout (not just settled), when the concrete has reached end of life (spalling, scaling, structural cracking), or when it's cheaper to pour new than to manage the existing condition long-term. In most other cases. Including driveways, sidewalks, patios, and garage floors that have settled due to soil issues but are otherwise sound. Lifting and stabilizing the slab costs meaningfully less than replacement and addresses the actual cause.

Mudjacking, the older slurry lift method, pumps a cement-soil slurry under the slab through 1.5 to 2" holes to fill the void and lift the concrete. Polyurethane foam injection uses a two-part expanding foam through 5/8" holes. Foam is lighter (important near foundations), faster-curing (same-day use vs. 24-hour cure for mudjacking), and leaves smaller injection holes. Epp Foundation Repair does not perform mudjacking on any job. Every lift Epp does, regardless of size, uses polyurethane foam injection instead.

When the soil is properly stabilized at the time of injection, concrete lifting lasts 10 to 20+ years. The limiting factor is whether the soil continues to wash out or compact beneath the slab. We assess the void condition before lifting and flag any drainage issues that are actively contributing to the problem.

Yes. We repair cracks with polyurethane caulk, epoxy injection, or joint sealant depending on the crack type and its location. We also address the underlying cause: a cracked slab that settled gets lifted first, then the remaining crack is sealed. A crack without settlement is typically a sealant job.
