Slabs with cracks running corner to corner, broken into multiple pieces, with rusted-through rebar, or with severe surface scaling are not lift candidates. For those slabs, the recommendation is replacement. Epp's inspection identifies which category any given slab falls into before a slab jacking estimate is written. No homeowner pays for a lift that wasn't going to work.

It does not address the soil failure mode (loess hydroconsolidation, clay shrink-swell, poorly compacted backfill) or the water source (downspout discharge, irrigation overrun, negative grading) that caused the soil to fail in the first place.
