Polyurethane Foam (Commercial): how it works and when it's the right call.
Commercial polyurethane foam lifting raises and supports settled concrete by injecting expanding foam underneath it. Epp's system is called PolyLift. It is used on warehouse and shop floors, sidewalks and entries, parking areas, garage slabs at apartment buildings, and golf course cart paths. The crew drills small holes through the settled section and injects polyurethane foam below it. The foam expands, fills voids in the soil, and can raise the slab back toward the sections around it. When the work is done, the holes are patched. Because the foam goes in through small holes, the existing concrete stays in place instead of being torn out and poured again. PolyLift is not the right repair for every slab. Polyurethane can lift concrete, but it cannot turn a section broken into many pieces back into one solid slab, and badly broken sections may need to be replaced. Epp does not guarantee levelness, and lift is never promised.
How we install polyurethane foam (commercial).
Step 01.Site Walk
Epp walks the site with you, marks the settled sections, and notes which can be lifted and which may need replacement.
Step 02.Customized Repair Estimate
You receive a written scope for each area and a schedule planned around the building, the course, or the tenants.
Step 03.Drill and Inject
Small holes are drilled through each section, and polyurethane foam is injected beneath it to fill voids and support the slab.
Step 04.Patch and Clean Up
The holes are patched, joints are sealed when sealant is part of the scope, and the area is cleaned before the crew leaves.
"Commercial lifts are mostly planning and very little pump time. We walk the site with the operations manager, identify what stops the business, build a lift sequence that fits inside the operating window, and only then do we put a pump on the floor. The warehouse floor under the south-end rack at a Lincoln distribution center we lifted last year. We did the entire lift over three weeknight shifts, the racks stayed in place, and the floor was carrying forklift load again at 6 a.m. The next morning."
