large crack in concrete

You know that phrase, “Step on a crack and you’ll break your mother’s back”? Well, it’s not just a children’s superstition. When you miscalculate your steps and twist your ankle on uneven concrete, it becomes a real problem. Over the course of the last two months, our team went through extensive training to become experts in our newest service, PolyLift™. We are now excited to extend this service to you. As a result of poor soil conditions, poor compaction, tree roots, and poor drainage, concrete often settles. Uneven concrete is visually unattractive and could potentially lead to injury or liability claims for commercial properties. Areas that most commonly experience concrete sinking include:

  • Driveways
  • Sidewalks
  • Patios
  • Walkways
  • Steps
  • Stoops/porches
  • Garage floors
  • Pool decks
  • Basement slabs

What options do you have if your concrete has settled, your sidewalk looks shoddy, or your driveway is uneven?

Mudjacking is a technique in which a mixture of water, soil, concrete, and other materials are hydraulically pumped under sunken concrete to fill voids and lift the concrete upwards. This process involves drilling several holes into a slab of concrete to pump the concrete compound below the slab. The holes are then filled with concrete to mask the repair. Mudjacking is a dated way to repair concrete and takes at least 24 hours to set.

PolyLift™ injections use a foam material (instead of mud) that is injected underneath a sunken slab of concrete. A reaction occurs within the foam that causes it to expand and harden within minutes, thus lifting the slab and filling any voids. The foam material is 100% waterproof, will never break down, and takes perfect shape of voids beneath the concrete to completely support the slab. PolyLift™ injection lasts significantly longer than traditional mudjacking and looks better as well.

Level concrete surfaces will keep your family safe, improve the look of your property, and may even increase the resale value of your home. It’s important not to procrastinate when it comes to settled concrete. For more information on PolyLift™ leveling, visit www.polyliftnebraska.com or call us at 402-423-9192.
